Crosswinds Golf Club in Savannah, GA was the host course for the most recent tournament for the Hilton Head-Savannah Tour. The tournament was a complete sell out with 52 players playing. This is a great sign for the rest of the year! The weather was beautiful, the course was in great shape and the players all enjoyed their time at Crosswinds.
The Championship Flight saw three players competing today. Newcomer to the tour, Jacob Hitt, wasted no time collecting his first tournament win. Jacob bested Alex Kiproff by one stroke to take home the top spot in the Champ Flight today. Jacob put together a "disappointing" (as he put it) round of 79 on the day. Rounding out the top three was Rick Hopper.
The A flight saw 12 players compete against each other today. Given that the A flight was playing from the tips today that measured out around 6800 yards, some players had a difficult time. Other however played the best they could and walked away with some pretty solid scores. JC Smith was able to battle the distance the best and carded a nice round of 81 to claim his first win of the year. Coming in second was Greg Ferguson and Roger DeMarco with 82’s on the card. Greg wins in a scorecard playoff. Nice playing guys!
The B flight was again the biggest flight of the day with 18 players competing today. Patrick Ferreira came into the clubhouse as the early leader in the B flight. However, he didn’t stick around and wait for the rest of the flight to come in. Unfortunately for Patrick, Doug Hudock came in with the same score. Doug was declared the winner since Patrick wasn’t there for a playoff. Coming in third was Ricky Futch. Nice round guys!
The C flight had a nice big group of 14 players playing today. It looked like a four way playoff was going to take place with everyone who shot 88 today. However, Todd Purcell came in with a very impressive 82 on the card and walked away with another win on the year. Coming in second was Jean Mora followed by Todd Saylor in third.
The D flight also saw a nice group of 6 players compete. With everyone aiming for two time winner Paul McGee, it was bound to be a competitive round for the six players. In the end, it was newcomer William Henry walking away with a 4 shot victory over Jimmy Bryson. Paul McGee finished third today.
What a great turnout for the tour! Thank you to everyone who showed up and played today. I look forward to seeing everyone on Sunday April 21st at Sapelo Hammock!
