The Golf Club at Hilton Head Lakes was the host course for the 16th tournament of the season for the Hilton Head – Savannah Tour. The weather was absolutely perfect for the golfers and the course was in amazing shape. With all the given perfect conditions, it was a given that we would see some low scores today.
The Championship consisted of only one player today, Chris Burnett. Even though Chris didn’t play as well as he wanted (83), he still went out and had a good time playing the course. Chris was able to play in this tournament, collect a trophy, 450 points and get a good look at the course as he prepares to play in the Hardeeville Open next weekend.
The A flight had four players competing for the first place trophy and points. Mike Peters put together his best round of the year by firing a 74 on the day. Mike’s 74 was good enough to win by four strokes over Terry Lennox, 5 over Jeff Jordan and 10 over Roger DeMarco. Mike extends his A flight lead with the win.
Another low score was fired by the B flight winner, Craig Ehde. Craig put together a round of 82 with two triple bogeys to outlast the ever consistent Pat Helm (84). Craig also won a skin and super skin on the day. By finishing second, Pat extends her B flight points lead.
The Round of the day was put together by Keith Weaver in the C flight. Keith went 35-40 to finish with a tournament career best 75 on the day. Weaver carded 3 birdies that won 3 flight skins and one super skin on the day. This is Weaver’s 3rd win of the season and second in a row. Augusta member Kipp Neikirk finished second with an 87 while Todd Saylor finishes third. Todd also put together a great back (38) today.
The D flight didn’t want to be left out when it came to low scores. Kevin DeBold shot an 88 to take home the D flight trophy and 450 points. The points help Kevin extend his D flight points lead. Kevin also won 2 flight skins and a super skin today.
