The Hilton Head-Savannah Tour held its most recent tournament at the ever popular Oyster Reef Golf Club this past Saturday. A total of 27 golfers took to the course in hopes to claim the Major Championship trophy and points. The weather was absolutely perfect and the course was in good shape for the tournament.
The Championship flight saw three players compete for the top spot. Brent Savidge, Greg Luther and Mark English all took to the course in hopes to declare themselves champions. Playing from the tips, which measure out to be 7000+ yards, was sure to be a challenging task for the golfers. The three players battled all round long and ended the day with only one stroke separating first from third. Mark and Greg ended the day with 81’s on the scorecard while Brent came in one stroke out of the playoff with an 82. After the playoff was concluded, it was Mark English standing on top. Congratulations Mark on the victory.
The A flight saw five players battle it out today. The see-saw battle between Jeff Jordan and Mike Peters has gone on all year long. It seems like they are the top two players each week and flip-flop wins. Jeff won last tournament and wouldn’t you know it, Mike won this week! This is getting to be a little crazy J Mike put together a solid round of 82 to claim the top spot, edging out the every consistent John Cabaniss by one and Jeff Jordan by two. Nice round Mike!
The B flight was the biggest flight today with 8 total golfers. Doug Hudock put together a very solid and consistent round to claim the top spot with an 81 on the day. Day was able to get up and down numerous times throughout the day and was solid off the tee. Coming in second was Roger Clark with an 83 followed by Pat Helm with an 88 on the card. Congratulations Doug on the win.
The C flight had one of its biggest turnouts all season long with 6 players competing today. Todd "aka John Daly" Saylor was the only player to keep it in the 80’s today and cruised to a 5 stroke win. Todd fired a very rollercoaster 86 today to claim the top spot over Todd Garrett (91) and Keith Weaver (95). With the win, Todd begins to close the gap in the season long points race. Great round Todd and a great win.
The D flight saw one of its biggest turnouts as well with 5 total golfers competing today. George Story was the only player in the flight to keep it in the 90’s by firing a 96 on the day. With the win George continues to stretch his D flight season long points lead over the rest of the field. Coming in second was Peter Pagliaruli followed by Todd Champitto. Nice steady round George!
Our next event will be the Southern Regional on June 16th and 17th. The tournament will be in Stone Mountain, GA just outside of Atlanta. I hope that the Hilton Head-Savannah Tour will be well represented and claim a few titles! Sign up soon to secure your spot in the tournament.
