2007 Ends With A Bang!

HILTON HEAD TOUR 2007 SEASON ENDS AT WILMINGTON ISLAND
Wilmington Island Golf Club hosted the final event for the Hilton Head division of the Amateur Golf Tour on Saturday October 6, 2007. The course staff created an comfortable environment and did a great job in ensuring the event ran smoothly. The course was in great condition and the greens were excellent as evidenced by the birdie barrage on the scorecards. The tour players received Awards for both the tournament and the end of year Points Championships.
Kevin Arnold of Hilton Head, SC and Arnie Reddick of Savannah, GA tied at 75 in Championship Flight tournament play with Kevin taking the win in a play-off. Mack Duke of Bluffton, SC finished third with a 78 followed by a three way tie at 79 for fourth place. Kevin held on to the close point’s race title with Arnie close behind. Jeff Jefferson of Columbia, SC finished third. This flight has been very competitive all year.
In the “A†Flight, Mark Harrison of Savannah, GA scored a 76 to finish just ahead of Thomas Hellman of Summerville, SC who shot 77. Bob Sharp Hilton Head, SC placed third with a 79.
Mike Peters of Savannah, GA finished seventh and held on to win the “A†Flight points title over Craig Case of Bluffton, SC and Tommy Cain of Sanderville, GA.
Mike Hayes of Richmond Hills, GA shot a solid 84 to defeat Wayne Hardison of Bluffton, SC in the “B†Flight. Wayne edged Thomas Burden of Bluffton, SC by a stroke to take second place with an 87.Mike used hard work and constant improvement to win the “B†Flight points Championship with Thomas on his heels in second place. Jim Manning of Hilton Head, SC, who missed this tournament placed third.
“C†Flight honors went to Alex Canfield of Savannah, GA with an 88. Mark Morris of Hilton Head, SC placed second with an 89 over Shawn Colin of Bluffton, SC who shot a 98. Mark’s second place finish cemented his “C†Flight point’s championship over John Kolcum of Hilton Head, SC and Alex.
William Smith of Bluffton, SC took “D†Flight with a 95 over David Fuenttes of Garden City, GA who shot 98 for second place. William Smith squeezed out a close “D†Flight points Championship to beat David by less than three points. Jeff Hall of Hilton Head, SC who missed this tournament held on to receive the third place points trophy.
