Co-directors, Tim Newman and Dan Pastorek started the DC Metro's season off in grand style with the largest event since beginning the tour three years ago.
Veteran players dominated the field in the Championship Flight and the top spot was captured by Jack Sheehan with a score of 82 followed by TZ Jia in second place with an 87.
The Flight A trophy went to experienced tour member, Rex Close who's 80 gave him a 3 stroke victory over newcomer Jonathan James (brother to both Charlie from Tampa and Tony from Augusta). All three of the James brothers finished in the top five of their flight.
B Flight players battled the course and each other all day. In the end, Bruce Foote finished on top with an 83. Tanaka Dube, Doug Hamacek and Nick Gerstner all followed right behind with 84. The scorecard-playoff ranked them second, third and fourth respectively.
John Nesbitt claimed the trophy for the C Flight after shooting an 81. His month long practicing in cold weather paid off. Bala Perumbala had three birdies during his second-place round of 87.
Finally, in his debut event, Jim Forbes won the D Flight with a score of 94. Both Tony James (second place) and Nathan Cohen (third place) finished three shots behind and forced a second scorecard-playoff for the day.
