The trip was definitely worth the drive for Bob Hobson from
the Philly Metro Tour since he won the A Flight with a score of 83! There was a
tight race behind Bob with Chris Kinda carding an 84 and both Keith Gibert and
Mike Green finishing with an 85. Mike also won the closest to the pin contest
on holes #2 and #14 with drives that landed 8’5” and 12’2” from the pins
respectively!
Stan Boyer from the Tidewater Tour took home the B Flight
trophy. While Stan shot an 84, second place ended in a tie between Jerry
Abernathy and Kal Guraya both turning in 87. Also from the B Flight, Steve
D’Ambrosio took home bragging rights as being closest to the pin on hole #8!
Newcomer Charles Kim took first place in the C Flight by
also scoring an 87. This was Charles’ first event with the GolfWeek Amateur
Tour and he represented the DC Metro Tour well! Mike Lenett, also from the DC
Tour, was only a stroke behind Charles for second place. Although this was only Cephas Franklin’s second event, he took third place and proudly won the closest to the pin
contest on #11.
Veteran DC Metro Tour member Shawn Doyle ran away with first
place in the D Flight. His score of 94 was six strokes better than second place
Barry McConnell from Tidewater. We are certainly proud of how far Shawn has
come since joining us during the DC Metro’s inaugural year way to go Shawn!
As we move forward, we are excited to see so many new
members join the DC Metro Tour. Hope to see you all at the Links at Challedon!
