The second half of the 2012 DC Metro Golfweek Amateur Tour’s
season kicked off at the Links of Gettysburg. The weather was cooperative with temperatures in the low
80’s and very little humidity, which is rare for this time of year. The Championship flight played from the
tips (over 7000 yards). Jerry Resh won the flight with a score
of 84.
Jack Sheehan won
the A flight shooting 75 (the low round of the tournament). Keith Gibert was 2 strokes back and Rex Close finished 3rd four
strokes behind Sheehan. Billy Lackey
won the B flight by six strokes over Bill
Spruce who shot an 87. Doug Hamacek
finished in 3rd place with a 90.
The C flight was also won in a runaway. Russ
Kuyawa fired an 83 while second place finisher Dorinda Pastorek shot 88. Dorinda finsished one stroke better than
husband, co-Director Dan Pastorek;
he finished in third place with an 89.
For the second time this year Charles So bested Colin
Chinn in a playoff to earn the victory for the D flight. Charles and Colin both shot 97 before playing
the par 3, twelfth hole in the playoff. The D Flight had three new members
compete this week: Melvin Bilal, Ken Mutzabaugh and Darryl Guinyard. We hope to see you back with us on July 7th
at Greystone!
