The
second major of the 2014 Season was another success! The weather held out for a
great two-days…here are the details!
For
the second time this season in a major event worth double points, the Championship
Flight trophy went to Devon Hayes and
his combined score of 151 (76/75)! Devon beat Van Stemple by only one stroke (76/76) and Eric Fryatt came in third with a score of 161 (86/75).
The
competition in the A Flight was fierce. In the end, Roger Munoz (from the Tidewater Tour) edged out both Gordan Brixi and John Richards. Although Roger took home the trophy, he let others
earn the points. Roger shot 156 (79/77) and beat Gordan’s 157 (79/78) and
John’s 156 (82/75). Chad Slimmer was
next in line with his 79/81 combination followed by Vivian Cocca’s 83/82.
Thomas Hamilton repeated his major
tournament win by taking first place in B Flight after shooting an 84 on the
first day and 79 on the second. Justin Wilson earned second place with a total
of 168 (82/86). Only one stroke separated the players in third, fourth and
fifth place respectively…Harry Sherman
(82/88), Steven D’Ambrosio (87/84)
and both Anthony Leyson (88/84) and Azim Dhanani (86/86).
The C
Flight winner was “Big Peach” other wise known as Cephas Franklin. Cephas shot an 88 and an 81. Second place went to
new member, Ben Farquhar with a
combined score of 174 (91/83). Tour directors Tim Newman and Dan Pastorek
finished third and fourth respectively when they both shot 178. Another tie
followed when Ben Harrison and Thompson Sawyer both carded 180.
Finally, James Briggs
was excited to win the D Flight by three strokes. His 96/87 earned him first
place. Second place went to John
Moriarty who shot a 94 followed by a 92. Third place winner was Karl Yergey and he finished one stroke
ahead of Chuck Lineberry.
Now that the season is winding down, you may
want to keep an eye on the points standings page on the website. Keep in mind
that qualification for National Championship requires four tournaments on the
DC Metro Tour and placing in the top 10 or so within your flight!
