Westfields certainly challenged the golfers participating in the DC Metro tournament this weekend. Scores were a bit higher than usual as a result. Here’s the recap…

Once again, the Championship Flight winner was Devon Hayes. Devon scored the low round of the flight with an 80. Second place went to Ryan Smith when he carded an 84. Right on his trail was Thomas Grillo (85). Finally, Crews Miller, Andrew Herbert and Jerry Resh tied with an 86.

Another repeat winner took home the big trophy in the A Flight when Roger Munoz from Tidewater shot a 73! Second place went to Gordan Brixi (79) followed by Alan Dorow (81). Mike Green finished fourth despite getting hit in the head while on the course (he was okay—he even shot two birdies).

The B Flight winner couldn’t be announced until the very last player in the flight turned in his card—Harry Sherman led the group with an 83. Doug Hamacek earned second place with his 85 and finished just in front of Steve Ashman and Dave Hutchinson both shooting an 86. Meanwhile, Thompson Sawyer was on fire and finished well ahead of the others in the C Flight with his round of 78.  Second place went to John Pleasant (86) and third place was a tie between Cephas Franklin and Don Stackhouse (92).  

Finally, the D Flight was a close race. Both Karl Yergey and Ryan King finished the round with a 93, only one stroke ahead of Shawn Doyle, two strokes ahead of Bertram Reed and three strokes in front of Don Cherry. Nothing like a close competition on the golf course!
