The 2012 Season Has Come To An End.
Robbers Row on Port Royal Plantation was the host course for the final local tournament for the Hilton Head-Savannah Tour. Even though there was a small number of participants, the tournament was played and the golfers had a great time. With the last tournament of the season, a lot of prizes were left to hand out.
The Championship flight saw Ryan Roberts best Greg Luther by one stroke. Ryan shot a smooth 77 to take the win from Greg who shot a 78 on the day. Both players battled back and forth all round long trying to claim the final trophy of the year. Even though Greg was not victorious in today’s round, he still claimed the season long points championship and won ½ of his National Championship entry fee paid for. Congrats on the win Ryan and good luck in the national championship Greg.
The A flight saw two players fire 79’s and force a playoff. Mike Peters and Michael Dion walked off 18 with the same score and off to hole one they went for a playoff. It only took one hole to declare the winner of the tournament. And that winner was Michael Dion. Even with the second place finish in the tournament, it was good enough for Mike to win the season long points championship. Mike also won ½ of his National Championship entry fee paid for.
The B flight saw 9 players take to the course to try and claim the win today. The season long points total was already wrapped up by Doug Hudock before the tournament even started. So it was all about the tournament today. In the end it was a landslide victory for Joe McDonie. Joe fired his season best round of 80 to claim the top spot. Congrats Joe!
The D flight saw two players competing today for the tournament title. The season long championship was already wrapped up by George Story. In the end it was a very familiar face holding the tournament trophy, George Story. Congrats on the great season George!
Now that the season is over, we can relax a little and get ready for the 2013 season in January. I look forward to seeing everyone in a few months.
