The Arthur Hills course in Palmetto Dunes was the host course for the most recent tournament for the Hilton Head-Savannah Tour. The course was playing tough and long for the 20 players that came to tame the course. The temperature was hot and humid making scoring a premium today.
Greg Luther was the only contender in the Championship flight today. Even though he was uncontested today, Greg wanted to post a good score and continue to build up his points for the season long points total. Greg did just that by firing a solid round of 78 on the day.
The A flight had a total of 8 players competing today. Scores ranged from a very impressive 75 to a 94 on the day. The top three were only separated by 4 strokes and were the only three to keep it in the 70’s today. Bob Potter fired a 75 on the day to take home a two stroke win over Howard Tomlinson (77) and a four stroke win over Michael Dion (79). Great playing today Bob!
The B flight also consisted of 8 players today. Scott "I hit the ball a long way" Ammons wasted no time coming out of the shoot. Scott fired a very impressive 40 on the front nine that consisted of two birdies to take a lead going into the back. After faltering a little on 16 and 17, he birdied 18 to lock in an 83 on the day. After it was all said and done, the 83 was good enough for a 3 stroke win over Roger Clark (86) and and 4 stroke win over Joe McDonie (87). Nice playing Scott and congrats on winning two in a row!
The C flight saw two players battle it out. Todd Saylor and Gerard Mahieu went out to battle each other for the top spot. After nine holes, Gerard had to WD due to medical reasons. Todd Saylor continued to play well and post a reasonable score for the win.
Mathieu Roy was the only D flight player today but that didn’t stop him from having a good time and having a lot of fun. Mathieu posted a solid score today and is ready to take on the rest of the season.
Our next event will be on July 28th at The Legends Golf Course on Parris Island. This is a combo event with the Charleston Tour. So, sign up soon to secure you spot in the tournament.
