Hartefeld National Hosts GWAT (Philly Metro) Local Finals 09-20-14
Hartefeld National Golf Club in Avondale, PA hosted the GOLFWEEK Amateur Tour (Philly Metro) Local Finals on Saturday September 20, 2014. Forty tour players in five flights competed on a delightful sunny and breezy afternoon on a very challenging and difficult golf course. Hartefeld National was designed by Tom Fazio, and opened for play in 1994. The 6,962 yard Par 72 course features beautiful rolling fairways and large undulating green complexes. The course literally “flows” across the landscape of the Brandywine Valley setting. Simply a tremendous golf course !
In the Championship Flight, Albie Sanguiliano (42-37, 79) battled to a two-stroke victory over Gary Greenberg (37-44, 81) and Andrew Neal (40-41, 81). Albie had three birdies in his round; both Gary and Andrew had two birdies each. This was Albie’s 4th victory of the season. The CHAMP Flight played all 6,962 yards from “the tips”.
The A Flight victory went to Kyle Mazza, his 3rd of the season. Kyle’s score of 81 (40-41) was three strokes better than Phil Yang (84, 41-43) and Justin O’Neal (84, 40-44). Yang took 2nd place on a match-of-cards. The A Flight played from 6,444 yards.
In the B Flight, Jay Barnica took the title with a great round of 80 (43-37); Jay had three birdies in his one-over par back-nine ! Mike Sabbagh (83, 39-44) was three-strokes back in 2nd place. The B Flight also played from 6,444 yards.
