MICKEY LYLES WINS FIRST EGOLF AMATEUR GOLF TOUR
Well finally spring has arrived, but it was preceded by the rain and made Hillcrest pretty wet. But it looked good and from all I heard, a lot of you were having trouble with the speed of the greens. This was a good alternative for us for Masters Week, since all the Columbia clubs are packed, and overpriced.
And now for this weeks winners, Mickey Lyles won the championship flight in a one hole playoff versus Hiran “coach†Hicks. Mickey is one of our newer members and was playing in his first Columbia tour, but had played in last weeks Myrtle Beach event. Another new member won the A Flight Marcel Sterling playing in his first event had a strong round of 79 to win. In the B Flight it was a real shoot out but our British Open man Les Bradstreet prevailed over Mike Hinson from the Charlotte tour. In the C Flight Kent Barker “the quiet one†had a good round to win over Pat Sullivan. And in the D Flight two old competitors were at it again with David Bruce winning over Tom Haddad by a stroke.
Other winners were: PINS CHAMP & A FLT $35 DARRYL AVERYHART, B FLT $45 JOSE LAGOS, C FLT $80 PAT SULLIVAN D FLT $ DEBORAH WILCOX (AUGUSTA) SKINS $8 EA, RYAN CRONIN 1, HIRAN HICKS 1, BRIAN HUGHES 1, MICKEY LYLES 2. B,C&D $37 LES BRADSTREET 1, STUART AMOS 1, KENNETH WILHELM 1,
