JOHN TUCKER WINS WITH BEST ROUND OF THE DAY 76.
We had a great weather day, just like summer, so much for our spring. It was a pretty busy day with a lot of things happening…. The Earth Day promotion with Dixon golf balls got better response than Myrtle Beach we had about 750 golf balls turned in, with John Webb the winner with 250 golf balls and he won the $180 Berlle sunglasses, and they looked good on him too. Also I want to thank you all regarding the flight assignment changes, the golf course eliminated carts for our last 2 groups, so I had to scramble putting you all in foursomes, thanks again and its another reason to get to the course a little early, sometimes things happen we have no control over.
Also we had a few rules situations that resulted in players being DQ. Mickey Lyles in the Champ flight disqualified himself when he realized that he hit the wrong ball, and then teed of with it. (A reminder to make sure your marking your ball, and checking before you hit) Then Les Bradstreet signed an incorrect score card, who ever did his card forgot to put score for the eighteenth hole and instead put the back nine total so les signed for a 44 on 18. Please take this as a reminder that our events are USGA based tournaments and played under their golf rules, and we all need to pay attention to them. Also since golf is a self policing sport, I appreciate have players on our tour like Mickey Lyles, who will call penalties on themselves. Having said that, it is also up to YOU the fellow competitor to make sure ALL are playing fairly, so if you see what you think is an infraction you must bring it to player’s attention….. And if disagreement play 2 balls then get a ruling. So a reminder before you tee off…… check for clubs only 14 allowed, mark you ball and advise competitors what it is (note the tour DOES NOT PLAY ONE BALL RULE) so if you change a ball during round you SHOULD tell the other players. I don’t know about you but that’s why I love competitive golf, play hard, do the best you can, you have no one to blame but yourself if you win or lose…. BUT if you have to cheat to win, like in life, you’re only cheating yourself.
Now for the winning: Champ flight David Kane, from the Charleston tour had a 79 beating Ryan Cronin by a stroke, A Flight John Tucker with low round of the day 76 over Paul Sanderson.
