i26 SPRING COMBO
The Charleston, Columbia, and Augusta tours got together fortheir annual Special Monday event at Orangeburg Country Club. The golf course was in spectacular shape andthe greens were quick and true.
In the Championship Flight, the lead changed hands back andforth between Charleston''s Chris Asbel and Charlotte''s Scott Tarcy and JeffJordan. Scott had posted a 75 and Chris and Jeff were tied with one hole togo. Chris made a 6-foot par save on thedifficult 17th par three while Jeff Jordan''s par save slid by on thepar three third hole to give the victory to Chris.
In the A flight, Fred Dixon (Charleston) was rolling alongon with a three shot lead heading into hole 18. It was a pulled tee shot that lead to a triple Bogie and a tie withCharlotte''s Mark Ballew who also fired a very nice round of 78. In the playoff the same tee shot that rearedits head for Fred, showed up again and Mark was able to secure the victory witha par on the tenth hole. Mark Ducker from the Charleston tour rounded out thetop three.
The B flight was also settled via a playoff. John Saager and Sean Kenneck both from theCharleston tour posted solid round of 81, 9 over par to finish in a tie. They also played hole 10 to settle thescore. This was John''s second playoff ina row as he prevailed at the Crowfield social. However today was Sean''s day ashe birdied the 10th hole in the playoff to John''s par to take hometop honors! Rounding out the top three was Columbia''s Brian Williams
In the C flight, Charleston''s David Carlson won his firsttournament ever with a very nice round of 83 for a one-shot victory overAugusta''s Scott Wilson. Matthew Nemmesof Hilton Head, Matt Witt of Charleston and Augusta''s Robert McMillian all tiedfor third with rounds of 86.
The D flight had Columbia''s Mike Bailey fire a 91 to post atwo-shot victory over Charleston''s Chris Hill and Columbia''s Joseph Jones whoboth posted an 83 with Chris taking second place prize money on a scorecardplayoff.
