Columbia, SC; Wes Graves’ par on the third playoff hole was good enough to beat three other players in the B flight of the Golfweek Amateur Tour Columbia at Cobblestone Park. This was the largest field ever for the Columbia Tour
Graves’ playoff victory came over Les Bradstreet, John Beckman and Don Pennington after all four tied at 84 through 18 holes of regulation. Bradstreet, Beckman and Graves all made par on the first playoff hole to eliminate Pennington before Graves sealed the win on the third hole.
New tour member Pete Holmes won the Championship Flight by two shots over Ken Taylor. Holmes posted 81 while Taylor finished at 83.
In the A flight, Brooks Varn fired 80 to beat Paul Sanderson by three shots. Julian Reville shot 92 to win C flight by only one stroke over John Beckman.
The D flight also went to a playoff with Tom Haddad beating William Hinson with a par on the first hole of sudden death. Both players reached the playoff by shooting 95.
