Minneapolis/St.
Paul Tour: August 13th, The Links at Northfork
The
Minneapolis/St. Paul Golfweek Amateur tour held its seventh tournament
Saturday, August 13th at The Links at Northfork in Ramsey, MN
The weather finally decided to cooperate for the first time on the Minneapolis tour this
year. The temperature was in the mid
80’s, partly cloudy, and only a slight breeze to take the edge off of the
humidity.
Championship flight brought back JB Lundeen for his third event of
the year. JB again proved that he
belongs in the Championship flight by shooting a very impressive one over 37 on
the front nine followed by a 3 over 39 on the even tougher back nine winning
with total score of 76.
“A” flight welcomed our newest member, Bryan Poetsch, playing in
his first event along with newly promoted to “A” flight (returning) members Chris McArthur and Cory Brathol. Competition was close as they made the turn
with Chris McArthur holding a one
shot lead. Chris continued his steady
play shooting two shots better on the tougher playing back nine winning yet
again on the Minneapolis tour as well as in his first event as an “A” flight
player.
“B” flight yet again brought the largest field
to the event and also provided the largest spread of scores. At the turn, Dan Barrett, retuning for only his second event of the year, held a
commanding 8 shot lead at the turn with Jarrod Bonk, Tim Palya
and Brad Parrott all tied for second
place. Dan continued his steady play on
the tougher back nine bettering his front nine score by two strokes and taking
his first win of the year. Tour veteran Tim Palya bettered his front nine score by six
strokes taking second place by one stroke over Jarrod
Bonk.
“C” flight welcomed
back all of our members and unlike “B” flight, provided the closest
competition. Only 3 shots separated Jeremy Host,
Victor Lucio,
and Bill
Mlodgenski at the turn with Bill holding the lead. Jeremy Host
was able to better his front nine score by one shot on the back nine to take
his second win of the year shooting an impressive score of 95. The back nine got the better of Bill while
Victor held steady matching his front nine score and giving the two a tie for 2nd
place. Victor took second place by
virtue of a score card playoff on the first handicap hole.
