REMINDER - YOUR NEW TOUR NAME
The Triad and Raleigh/Pinehurst Golfweek Amateur Golf Tours for 2015 has a new Tour name.
As all Tour "veterans" are aware, in the past the Triad and Raleigh/Pinehurst Tour schedules have been identical.
Beginning on the 2015 schedule, the two tours will be merged to form a newly named Tour: The Central Carolina Tour.
By taking this step we will avoid any confusion as to where you may have finished overall in a certain event because all competitors will be listed together for each tournament on the website. While this will result in having only one Points Standings listing, the prize pool and everything else will remain the same.
As always,to register and to sign-up to play or if you have any questions, please let me know.

"Can't Complete the Low Round?
"Improve Your Golf Mental Toughness"
Every golfer has heard the saying "It's all in your head" or "Golf is 90% mental" or "Golf is the most mentally demanding sport in the world." Yet what do golfers do about it? Well, most often absolutley nothing! Not necessarily because they don't want to, but sometimes golfers actually think the mental game doesn't matter to them!
Click Here to Unlock Your Mind and Shoot Better Golf
EVERY golfer can benefit from increasing their mental toughness and harnessing the full power of thier mind!
Many golfers naively get stuck into thinking that the mental game only matters for elite players or pros who make a living golfing. Nonsense! EVERY golfer needs to use their mind properly.
-
It is your mind that determines how well you learn when taking lessons. (and this training course is packed with accelerated learning techniques that will have you absorbing more from lessons)
-
It is your mind that will allow you to set up to the ball correctly and commit to your swing (or not!).
-
It is your mind that will either stay focused under pressure and get you to make a smooth, fluid stroke when you need to drain an 8 footer for the win, or have you choking like a dog and collapsing like a house of cards when the heat is on!
Click Here to Unlock Your Mind and Shoot Better Golf
"When you have a chance to shoot the lowest score of your life, you won't choke - You Will Go Low!"

PROMISE KEPT IN GOLFWEEK TOUR EVENT
Fuquay-Varina, NC
March 14, 2015
After turning in a 1 over par effort in his Tour debut this season at The Legacy Golf Links in Aberdeen, Golfweek Amateur Golf Tour member Larry Hardee of Fayetteville made a vow to not register a score over par again for the remainder of the year.
At Bentwinds Country Club on Saturday, that promise was in jeopardy as he approached his final hole of the day needing a birdie to finish at an even par 72.
Hardee kept his word, eagling the final par-5 to wind up with a 1-under par score of 71. Playing in the Championship Flight, Hardee's effort was made even more impressive by the fact that the golf course had endured heavy rains right up to the start of the event, leaving the fairways wet and the course playing extremely long from the back tees. Hardee's effort left him 9 strokes clear of runner-up Gene Queen of Winston-Salem.
Bentwinds Winner: Championship Flight - Larry Hardee
"I Love this course", stated Thomasville's Dan Anthony after defending his 2014 title at the same venue. The A Flighter's 76 was 2 shots better than Godwin's Jay Yergeau. "Today's round was marked by some fortunate shots that wound up within a foot or so for birdie. Even I couldn't miss those" quipped Anthony.
Bentwinds Flight Winners ( L to R): A Flight - Dan Anthony;
C Flight - Rob Bulgarino; D Flight - Greg Dotson
One stroke was also the margin of victory in the C Flight as two Raleigh residents, Rob Bulgarino and Jeff Smith posted a 91 and 92 respectively to finish 1-2. "Rob's got a few years "Tour" experience" noted Tour Director Bruce Hallenbeck, "while this is only Jeff's second event of his "rookie" year. That might've made the difference".
Greg Dotson of Richlands VA grabbed top honors in the D Flight with a 102. Clemmons' Shane Kilby "placed" in 2nd with a 105.
Tour veteran Richard McMinis of Raleigh played a solid, steady round to edge Greenville's Jimmy Adams by a single shot - 83 to 84 in the B Flight competition. While McMinis did not register a single birdie during play, he avoided the dreaded "train-wreck hole" to cruise to victory.
Bentwinds Winner: B Flight - Richard McMinnis
Next up for the Golfweek Tour is Seven Lakes Country Club. Any amateur golfer interested in playing "on-Tour" at Seven Lakes or any other venue on the 2015 schedule, can contact Hallenbeck at 336-495-6556 or by emailing him at behgolf@aol.com.

Rules Review
It has been suggested that there should be a series of Rules scenarios for you to solve. So begins a series of problems titled What's the Score?
Doc Miller has graciously agreed to allow me to share these with you that he has been sending since July 2009.
I will include one each week. You should try to determine the answer based upon your knowledge of the Rules when ever possible and then use your Rule book to confirm.
There will be no trick questions or hidden information.

Question from #294
Jon hit his tee ball which he caught on the bottom edge of his driver. The ball raced forward about three inches off the ground, struck the tee marker of a forward teeing ground, popped 80 feet in the air and landed back at Jon’s feet where it lay embedded in the ground, inside the teeing ground—hilariously entertaining for Jon’s buddies.
Decide which following statement is correct:
A. Rule 25-2, Embedded Ball, states the player is entitled to relief for a ball embedded in its own pitch mark, in any “closely mown area” through the green. However, the Definition of through the green does not include the teeing ground of the hole being played. For that reason he either plays the ball as it lies or must deem it unplayable.
B. Penalty-free relief for this situation is available only if the Local Rule for Embedded Ball Through the Green is in effect.
C. In equity, Jon is entitled to penalty-free relief and because the ball lies on the teeing ground, he may “tee” the ball for his second stroke.
D. If Jon re-tees and plays the ball, that stroke will be his third.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Answer
D is the only correct statement.
When Jon made his initial stroke his ball was in play. Yes, the teeing ground of the hole being played, by definition, is not included as a part of the area deemed through the green, but this is for reasons other than applying relief under R25-2. The Rules really do not contemplate such a situation as this; and as a result, in equity, Jon’s ball embedded in the teeing ground would be eligible for embedded ball relief relief (see D25-2/8). Jon could lift and clean the ball.
What’s more, because his ball is on the teeing ground, Jon may also repair the damage made by his ball impact before dropping. (see Decision 13-2/2) It is important to point out that normally, Jon would be prohibited from first repairing the ball impact before dropping. This is an exception afforded under R13-2. Like I said, a unique situation that is best described as residing tucked in to a corner of the Rules envelope.
Jon’s ball is in play. He should simply take the relief drop and play on from there. Jon must not re-tee the ball as that would be interpreted by the Rules as electing to play under stroke and distance, thus making answer D correct.

Tour Weather Guidelines:
Primarily, we adhere to the same guidelines that the PGA Tour uses: If the course is open, we're going to play.
The only exception to this is that I'll never put any of you in harm's way during an event because of dangerous weather. (i.e. - lightening or severe cold and wetness).
In other words, I won't let the course "bully" us into playing where an unsafe condition might exist.
Because I arrive at every event at least two hours prior to the start time and I generally have to leave my house at least an hour before that to get to the course, there is no sense calling me just before the event, because I won't be at the office. The best avenue to take is to call the course if the weather seems threatening.
If you are on the roster for the event, and you do not get a cancellation notice from the course after calling them, you are expected to show up in time for the scheduled shotgun start.
