Milwaukee Local Rules
Milwaukee Golfweek Amateur Tour – Geneva National
The rules of golf as governed by the USGA will apply with the following exceptions:
1) A player can card a triple bogey max on any hole
The maximum score on any hole is triple bogey. At any time on any hole if a player exceeds triple bogey and the ball is not holed out, the player MUST pick up his/her ball, help the group finish the hole and will record a triple bogey as his/her score for the hole.
2) Stones in Bunkers
Stones are, by definition, loose impediments and, when a player’s ball is in a hazard, a stone lying in or touching the hazard may not be touched or moved (Rule 13-4). However, stones in bunkers may represent a danger to players (a player could be injured by a stone struck by the player’s club in an attempt to play the ball) and they may interfere with the proper playing of the game. Therefore stones touching your ball on in your swing path may be removed from the bunker.
3) Bunker Condition
In the event that your ball is in a bunker that is unplayable due to the condition of the bunker (bunker washed away or limited sand) the tour will allow you “Rake and Roll”. This means that the player can lift the ball. Rake the trap to create a “normal” bunker condition and then Roll the ball into the raked spot to create a realistic bunker shot.
4) Hazards
Water hazards are defined by yellow stakes and lateral water hazards are defined by red stakes.
5) Ground Under Repair
Ground under repair is marked by white paint and relief without penalty may be taken.
Pace of Play
Each group will be expected to finish within 15 minutes of the group in front of them. All groups will be timed for their completion times. If a group finishes outside of the 15 minute time limit a 2 stroke penalty will be applied to EACH member of the group, no exceptions. Slow play will not be tolerated, consider yourself warned on the first tee box.
Ready Golf defined
Our goal is to play our round of golf in 4:30, and that means we need to play Ready Golf. Ready Golf is simply defined as HIT WHEN READY. If you reach your ball and are ready to hit, while other members of your group are not yet prepared, then go ahead and hit. Keep in mind that while there are no penalties under the Rules of Golf for violating order of play.
Course Rangers will have the ability to issue warnings to slow groups.
If there is a disagreement of uncertainty of the Rules of Golf
Player must announce that he is playing a second ball. First ball played will be the ball as it lies; second ball will be according to the alternate rule. At the conclusion of the round, the Tour Director will make the final ruling.
Scoring
If a player submits a signed card with a lower score on a particular hole than the actual score, the player will be disqualified from the tournament. It’s crucial that all players come to agreement BEFORE the scorecard is submitted final. (For this reason alone, it’s imperative that if an issue arises on the course and a settlement cannot be reached within the group, a 2nd ball should be played). If a player believes a rules infraction has occurred, the player must announce to the group that a rule may have been broken AT THE MOMENT the incident occurred. Failure to do so at the moment would result in the penalty not applied and the correct ruling may not be made.
Once the final scores are tabulated and the trophy has been presented to the tournament champion, the tournament is considered final and closed.
All 1st place ties will go to sudden death playoff on the course.
All other ties will be broken by a scorecard playoff.
