Trump – Ferry Point in Bronx,
NY was the venue for the 2015 Season-opening tournament for the Golfweek
Amateur Tour-Metro NY. Tour members competed on this Jack Nicklaus designed
Links style tournament course.. Trump Golf Links Ferry Point open its doors on
4/1/15 and this was the 1st official Amateur Tournament held at the
course. With the wind blowing all day, the course was a nice challenge for the
field of 70. All the staff at Trump – Ferry Point made certain that their
championship golf course was in great condition for our event.
Phil
Gutterman (40-40, 80) took home the trophy in the Championship flight.
Finishing 4 strokes back was Jody
Barrett (43-41, 84) of the Nashville Tour. Teeing off early wasn’t such an
advantage as wind was howling early.
Tour veteran Joe Arnold (40-41, 81) took the season
opening trophy in the “A” flight. Just 2 strokes back, we had a tie for 2nd
place between Victor Lugo Jr.
(43-40, 83) and Cris Guyadeen
(40-43, 83). Victor took 2nd place prize on a match of cards.
In the “B” flight, largest
field of the day, Matt Harris
(42-38, 80) took home the trophy. Jimmy
Saporito (43-40, 83) and Scott
Bernstein (46-37, 83) finished in a tie for 2nd. Scott took 2nd
place prize on a match of cards.
The “C” flight trophy went to Charles Hearon (45-41, 86), Charlie’s
1st win on Tour. Just 2 strokes back was Tour newcomer, Larry Calinda (45-43, 88) taking 2nd
place. Another 2 strokes back was our own Vijay
Singh (45-45, 90) in 3rd place.
In the “D” flight, Tour
veteran Joe Scalero (46-45, 91) took
home the trophy. We had a tie for 2nd place between Javier Santiago (47-46, 93) and Joseph Holzapfel (46-47, 93). Javier
took 2nd place prize on a match of cards.
