On a brisk, cool, and windy early spring day, 64 golfers kicked off the DC Metro 2025 season with a bang @ Laurel Hill Golf Club. The sun was out early followed with intermittent winds and at times overcast throughout the day. The Par 71 Course was in near perfect season condition and the greens were unforgiving. The level of competition this early in the season set the tone for what we believe will be very competitive. A few flights went down to the last hole. While there were no sudden death playoffs there were 24 birdies and two eagles. Yes, the greenskeeper must have been mad because the pin placements throughout the day made the course even tougher. The support from the course staff was awesome. Thanks to each of you for the positive feedback on season opening event.

CHAMP FLIGHT
In Champ Flight, 2024 Season Champion Nicholas Torrance, began where he left off, shooting a day low score of 75 (+4) to win againsgt fellow Champ flighter Spencer Ottarson, 91 (+18). Champ Flight Point Standings

A-FLIGHT
In A-Flight, Steve Ogletgree, 78 (+7) held off veteran Fredy Carreon, 79 (+8) by one stroke. finished tied for 1st-place. David Pongrace, 81 (+10) finished solo third-place, 3-strokes back. Scott Facello, 83 (+12) and Mike Cuff, 84 (+13) rounded out the Top-5 in scoring on the day.

B-FLIGHT
In B-Flight, 2024 B-Flight Champion, Craig Crowley, 85 (+14) began where he left off by posting the winning score, holding off Jerry Arnold, 86 (+15) and Atlanta member Greg Burrell, 86 (+15) by one-stroke. Jerry earned the second-place payout based on the tie-break formula. Thomas Larry, 88 (+17) and Thomas Choi, 88 (+17) rounded out the Top-5. Thomas earned the 4th-place payout on the tie-breaker as well. B-Flight Points Standings

C-FLIGHT
In C-Flight, Veteran, Gil Bunner, 85 (+14) held off Milton Tyrrell, 88 (+17) by 3-strokes; and Dave Shugart, 89 (+18), Jason Lilly, 90 (+19), and Darin Sams, 90 (+19) by 5-strokes for the win. Jason finished in the $$$$ over Darin for 4th-place payout on the tie break. C-Flight Points Standings

D-FLIGHT
In D-Flight, Franklin (Shaggy) Brown, 89 (+18) cruised to a 5-stroke win over Tyler Patterson, 94 (+23) and 6-stroke win over Jay Thompson, 96, (+25), Dawn Hancock, 96 (+25), and Justice Clark, 96 (+25). The payouts were Jay, 3rd; Dawn, 4th; and Justice, 5th based on the tie-break.
