How would you like to win free entry into the 2025 National Championship at Hilton Head?
Here’s how you can do just that...
For 2025, The DC Metro Tour will run a Fed Ex Cup Style contest that runs the length of the 2025 Season. For Each DC Metro tournament, players earn points in this side competition based upon their finish in the event (not related to the points awarded within each flight to qualify for Nationals). Just like the Fed Ex Cup Race, the DC Metro Tour will provide points based on different categories of tournaments. To be eligible to win free entry into the 2025 National Championship, a golfer MUST have competed in at least four (4) local events prior to the start of the playoffs @ Blue Ridge Shadows. Points will be reset prior to the last playoff tournament (Penn National). The first-place winner of this contest earns free entry into the National Championship in Hilton Head for the 2025 Season. The prize is non-transferrable (if the winner does not go to Nationals, the entry fee may not be given to another player).
Category #1 Tournaments (Laurel Hill, Blue Mash, Providence, and The Highlands)
For each of these tournaments, the first-place winner earns 500 points, the second-place winner earns 300 points, the third-place winner earns 190 points, the fourth-place winner earns 135 points, etc. (See the chart below for the points awarded to each finisher).
Category #2 Tournaments (Mattaponi Springs, Country Club at Woodmore, Compass Pointe, & Swan Point)
For each of these tournaments, the first-place winner earns 550 points, the second-place winner earns 315 points, the third-place winner earns 200 points, the fourth-place winner earns 140 points, etc. (See the chart below for the points awarded to each finisher).
Major Tournaments (Ice Breaker, Twin Lakes, and Rock Harbor)
For each of these tournaments, the first-place winner earns 600 points, the second-place winner earns 330 points, the third-place winner earns 210 points, the fourth-place winner earns 150 points, etc. (See the chart below for the points awarded to each finisher).
Playoff Tournaments (Blue Ridge Shadows, Links at Gettysburg and Penn National)
To be eligible to win free entry in the 2025 National Championship, a golfer MUST have competed in at least four (4) local events prior to the start of the playoffs. For each of these tournaments, the first-place winner earns 2,000 points, the second-place winner earns 1,500 points, the third-place winner earns 1,000 points, the fourth-place winner earns 750 points, etc. (See the chart below for the points awarded to each finisher).
Prior to the Penn National tournament, points will be reset (See the chart below for the points awarded during the resetting process).
Make-Up/Other Tour Events (Only for missed events)
If a player misses a Category #1, Category #2 or Major tournament (listed in the chart below), he/she may participate in another Golfweek Amateur Tour event around the country (excluding a regional major) and transfer in points to this competition.
- Players are allowed to make up two missed local events, however, tournaments missed in the Playoff category (Blue Ridge Shadows, Links at Gettysburg and Penn National) cannot be transferred into this competition.
All tournaments must be played on or before September 1, 2025 in order to be transferred to this competition. For each of these tournaments, the first-place winner earns 300 points, the second-place winner earns 165 points, the third-place winner earns 105 points, the fourth-place winner earns 80 points, etc. (See the chart below for the points awarded to each finisher).
Reset Points - Prior to the last Playoff Event at Penn National, all points will be reset according to the player’s standing in the competition. The player in first-place will be reset to 2,000 points, the player in second-place will be reset to 1,800 points, the player in third-place will be reset to 1,600 points, the player in fourth-place will be reset to 1,440 points, etc. (See the chart below for the points awarded to each finisher).
In the event of a tie: Just as in the regular tournaments, first place ties will be determined on the golf course. All other ties will be handled by combining the points for the places and dividing the total by the number of players. For example, if three people tie for third-place during a Category #1 event the points for third/fourth/fifth place would be totaled for 435 points (190+135+110) and divided evenly by the three players so each would earn 145 points.
In the event of moving flights: If a player moves flights during the season, the points accumulated in this contest move with the player as outlined in this section. If a player moves down a flight (example—A Flight to B Flight) the player keeps all earned points at their full value. If a player moves up a flight (example—B Flight to A Flight) the player keeps 80% of the points from each tournament played in the B Flight and then 100% of the points from each tournament played in the new Flight (A-Flight).
