We had a great tournament at Fo Po to start the 2024 season. Even though the wind kicked up, it ended up being a great day. We had 2 first time winners this tournament. Thank you to all the out of town guys who made the trip in, we love having you all.
Here's your Forest Park winners...
Champ Flight Winner - Luke Bohm
Once more, Luke Bohm from Chicago has conquered the greens! Maintaining a perfect record of four wins out of four appearances in St. Louis, he showcased his skills carding a 38 on the front and stayed consistent, as Luke usually does, and came in with a 39 to shoot a commendable score of 77, edging Justin Towell by three strokes. Bohm's display was truly extraordinary, signaling a sensational kick-off to his season. Thanks for coming down, always good to see you.
A Flight Winner - Chris Redding
In his debut on the Golfweek Amateur Tour, Chris stepped onto the stage and dazzled the spectators. Undeterred by the challenging winds, he launched into action, carding an impressive 42 on the front 9. Yet, it was on the back 9 where his prowess truly ignited, culminating in a stellar 36. With a combined total of 78 strokes, he clinched victory by a mere margin of 1. What a remarkable debut performance on the green!
B Flight Winner - Ryan Samples
Ryan Samples, fresh off winning the 2023 National Championship in Hilton Head, made his way down to St. Louis, looking to add some hardware to the trophy case. He navigated the front nine shooting a solid 40, and on the back nine stayed steady and finished with a 42, for a total of 82. This forced a tie with first year member, Andrew Masters. It went to three extra playoff holes, but the poise of Samples, the previous champion, edged Masters to win his first tournament of the year. Great job Ryan, always good to see you.
C Flight Winner - Timmy Fuerst
First year member, Timmy Fuerst, came out to challenge himself to some tournament golf and it turned out to be an amazing day. Timmy shot a solid 41 including a birdie, and as the winds picked up and everyone battled down the stretch, Fuerst shot a 46 on his way in for a total of 87, to win in his first attempt by 5 strokes. What an incredible performance and an exciting way to start your golf career.
D Flight Winner - Carl Cessor
Kansas member, Carl Cessor, made his way to the season opener in St. Louis with winning on his mind. That's exactly what happened. Carl fired a 45 on the front with a tweet and as most of the field struggled with the windy conditions down the stretch, he came in with a 43 on the back, for a total of 88 to beat the field by 6 strokes. What a great performance, Carl. Best of luck the rest of your season.
