The Dependable Supply Chain Services Classic at The Bluffs Golf Club of Kansas City hosted 52 Golfweek members. With over a $1900 purse, and $1500 in the cash game purse. Getting to play one of the top ten private golf courses in Missouri, The Bluffs Golf Club, A Tom Watson design. We got lucky with only getting rained on for one or two holes. The Kansas tour remembers have been doing an awesome job focusing on pace of play. The first group came in about three hours and 45 minutes. Even with the four-hole playoff, we were able to finish our post game, cheeseburger meal and distribute the awards and cash game money and on the way home at 5 hours 30 minutes.
The Kansas tour can probably now claim not only the highest payout amateur tour but the best ready play tour.
Champ flight only had two players but ended up being runner up to the most exciting flight finish of the day. It came down to the par 5 18th hole with both players, laying two. J.R Munson was pin high about 15 yards right of the green and Kory Glasgow in the sand trap on the left side of the green about 20 yards. Both players chipping on the green for birdies to secure the one stroke win for Glasgow.
After 9 holes In the A flight, Jacob Wedekind +1, Scott Rutherford +2 and Kirby Joy +6. On the back 9, Brandon Gilpin throws up a 39 to come back to finish 3rd but Joy remained consistent with another +6 for 2nd place and his first prize purse $. Wedekind holds on for his first Golfweek win +8.
B flight did not disappoint with a playoff that would bring another first time Golfweek winner. After 11 holes, Brendan McClew +2 had a three-shot lead over Justin Blake +5 with Paul Stanton +6 and Steve Kowalski & Will Duncan +10. McClew and Stanton went to a playoff that was not decided until the fourth hole with McClew getting the par over Stanton’s bogey. After a rough start for Kowalski starting his day with a triple and a double bogey, he was able to finish strong with a +12 tying with Blake, but winning the scorecard, tiebreaker for the prize purse money.
C Flight saw its first ever 3peat winner with Steve Finney carding +12 completing the trifecta after winning at The National, Excelsior Springs, and The Bluffs. Bob Kendall and Tim Murphy battled it out for second and third place with Kendall, edging out Father Time. Kirby Rogers, who held the early lead after six holes take some the fourth place just missing the purse by one stroke. Finney has been promoted to the B flight.
D Flight, was another close finish after 9 holes, Carl Cessor, and Ronnie Vargas were leading at +9 and Ron Rosenbaum in third place at +11. Rosenbaum then birdied his 10th and 11th hole to go on and shoot a +17 and win his first tournament with Golfweek.
