THE GOLFWEEK AMATEUR GOLF TOUR
2 DAY LOCAL FINAL at BRYAN PARK
TOP FIVE SCORES BY FLIGHT
==============================================================

WATERLOGGED GOLFWEEK LOCAL FINALS PLAYED AT BRYAN PARK
Browns Summit, NC
September 26 & 27, 2015
Fifty-two intrepid golfers played through 2 days of rainy, soggy conditions to contest the final regular season event on the Central Carolina Golfweek Amateur Golf Tour schedule.
As has become tradition, the Local Finals are staged at Bryan Park with the Players Course being "first-up" on Saturday and the final day being contested on the Championship Course layout.
"We would have had quite a few more players this weekend if the weather conditions had been more favorable", said Tour Director Bruce Hallenbeck. "To the credit of those who did sign-up, we only had 2 no-shows. That kind of commitment shows why I feel we've got the greatest members in our whole 42 Tour Golfweek system".
Leading the way in the Championship Flight was Gibsonville's Neal Faulkner - the only player in the entire event who broke 80 on both days of the competition with a 76 - 78 for a 154 total. Runner-up Stephen Pippin of Shannon had a total of 160.
Bryan Park 2 Day Flight Winners (Left to Right)
Championship - Neal Faulkner; A Flght - Dan Smith
The A Flight saw Kernersville's Dan Smith make up a 2 shot deficit from Day 1. His 2 day total of 161 allowed him to overtake both Thomasville's Dan Anthony and Roger Pinnix of Rural Hall.
Steve Marinelli of Atlanta, GA equaled the winning A Flight score with a 161, also coming from behind to catch Raleigh's Nick Slager in the B Flight competition.

B Flight - Steve Marinelli
In the C Flight only 1 player was able to break 90 both days as Rocky Mount's Benjamin Graham shot an 87 - 89 - 176 for an 11 stroke margin of victory over runner-up Derek Marley of Lewisville.

C Flight - Benjamin Graham
The D Flight was much closer as only 2 shots separated Champion Vince Thompson of Mebane from Richland, VA's Greg Dotson - 193 to 195.

The season-long Points Standings leaders were also honored at the event with the Jim Adams Stand-up To Cancer trophy for their consistent play during the entire 2015 season.

ONLY TWO WAYS TO GET TO THE GOLFWEEK NATIONAL TOURNAMENT
Where Were You In The
2015 Year-End Point Standings Race?
Here Are Your 2015 Point Standings Winners:
As they plotted their tour schedule in 2015, they were cognizant of the fact that only the top 10 are guaranteed access to the National Tour final. Usually, Point Standings flight races are tight depending on how well they played and of course how many tour dates they participated in during 2015.
Did you know how many tournaments you needed to play, how well you needed to play to finish in each tournament to ensure automatic berths to the Tour Championship.
These 5 did and earned an automatic berth and their invitation? They were not left out.
Where did you end up during the 2015 Points Standings?

Rules Review
It has been suggested that there should be a series of Rules scenarios for you to solve. So begins a series of problems titled What's the Score?
Doc Miller has graciously agreed to allow me to share these with you that he has been sending since July 2009.
I will include one each week. You should try to determine the answer based upon your knowledge of the Rules when ever possible and then use your Rule book to confirm.
There will be no trick questions or hidden information.

By now, most of you have certainly heard of the controversy that occurred as the darkness delayed Saturday Fourball matches wrapped up on early Sunday in this year’s Solheim Cup Matches.
If not, you can watch a video clip of the incident here: http://www.golfchannel.com/media/recapping-solheim-cup-controversy/
The putt was probably about 18-20 inches give or take. Charley Hull is clearly leaving the putting green, apparently headed to the 18th tee.
The putt was not conceded by Charley, not by Suzann, and the caddies cannot concede putts. So the responsibility to hole out remains. When Allison Lee picked up her ball she breached R18-2a, a 1-stroke penalty, giving the Euros the hole.
So really, we need not go further than to discuss that responsibility that rests with each player in match play. Never, ever move or lift your ball unless you have clearly understood from your opponent that a stroke is conceded. If it is not clear, ask. Probably, that could be the end of the story.
But, match play is unique. No form of play better represents the spirit of sportsmanship and consideration for your opponent than does the tone players typically take in their joint conduct of a match. Win with class and lose with class. Complement your opponent on their fine play and toughness. Admire their tenacity and success. Don’t celebrate their failings or misfortune. Don’t parade your good luck or skill. Treat you opponent as you would prefer to be treated. And above all, respect the traditions of the game.
Why Suzann Pettersen did what she did was probably with the intent to secure a win for her team. In reality, she will more likely live much of her life regretting she didn’t dismiss the event with a “no, that was good” comment. What she did may well have been the spark that ignited a stunning USA come from behind victory. I would not want to be the person held up for poor sportsmanship no matter what the Rules of Golf permit.
That incident was simply counter to everything I have every been taught or held as true about the game of golf.
Laura Davies may have framed the European angst it best:
"Disgusted," said Laura Davies, a longtime European Solheim stalwart who was analyzing these matches for Sky Sports. "We have got our best player, Charley Hull, who has just won a point and she's in a flood of tears. That tells you the wrong thing was done. I know [Pettersen] is angry and justifying everything, but she has let herself down, and she has certainly let her team down. I am so glad I am not on that team this time."

Tour Weather Guidelines:
Primarily, we adhere to the same guidelines that the PGA Tour uses: If the course is open, we're going to play.
The only exception to this is that I'll never put any of you in harm's way during an event because of dangerous weather. (i.e. - lightening or severe cold and wetness).
In other words, I won't let the course "bully" us into playing where an unsafe condition might exist.
Because I arrive at every event at least two hours prior to the start time and I generally have to leave my house at least an hour before that to get to the course, there is no sense calling me just before the event, because I won't be at the office. The best avenue to take is to call the course if the weather seems threatening.
If you are on the roster for the event, and you do not get a cancellation notice from the course after calling them, you are expected to show up in time for the scheduled shotgun start.
