Improve Your Golf Fitness To Play Better Golf During Your Round.

From: Stephen Ladd – Founder, Renegade Golf Fitness Institute
Are you serious about your golf game? I mean obsessed with crushing your drives, sticking your irons and draining putts? Not to mention becoming top dog in your foursome?
I thought so…
No doubt you’ve noticed the rise in popularity of fitness programs for the top players on all the Tours. Maybe you’ve started a fitness program in hopes of adding more power and distance, but aren’t getting the results you were hoping for . . or even worse, you end up injured and can’t play at all.
Trebuchet MS
There is one primary reason for this, and I’m going to tell you all about it. But first, let me introduce myself.
My name is Stephen Ladd, and my obsession is training golfers as athletes, and developing their bodies to better use their golf skills and play to their peak potential. I have been doing just that for over 16 years… long before the “golf fitness” craze began.
I have been trained and certified through the most prestigious golf fitness organizations in the world, including The Titleist Performance Institute and CHEK Institute.

BROTHERS ENJOY DUAL GOLFWEEK TOUR WINS
Browns Summit, NC
March 28, 2015
Bob and Elvis Sheahan are both Golfweek Tour veterans who have enjoyed success previously "on-Tour". The brothers have both been past National Champions in Tour competition, Bob having taken the top spot at Myrtle Beach several years ago followed by Elvis winning his flight in 2013 at Hilton Head.
Following their tradition of playing big in big events, they waited until the 2015 season's 1st "Major" event at Bryan Park - The Champions Course - to grab their first victories in some time with Bob taking B Flight honors, while Elvis topped the C Flight leaderboard.
Bryan Park Winner: C Flight - Elvis Sheahan
Elvis, from Durham, edged Lewisville's Shane Davis by a single shot with a 90 for his win, while Bob was a little more dramatic in topping the B Flight. The Fuquay-Varina resident finished in a tie for 1st place with Durham's Lanny Ealey after both posted 85s. As is the case with all first place finishes "on-Tour", the twosome returned to the course for a sudden death playoff. Ironically, in past season's Sheahan had been in this exact situation twice on the very same starting hole, having lost both times. The third time was a charm as a simple par was enough to grab the win - his first win in several years.
"The key to my round was just better ball-striking", said Sheahan.
Fayetteville's Larry Hardee continued his dominance in the Championship Flight with an even par 72, cruising to a 6-shot win over Gibsonville's Neal Faulkner. Hardee's effort was made more impressive by the conditions in which the event was played. The temperature never rose above 35 degrees and winds gusted up to 30 mph.
Bryan Park Winner: Championship Flight - Larry Hardee
Shane Kilby of Clemmons also enjoyed a substantial cushion for his D Flight win as the only player to break 100 in the tough weather conditions. Local player Diego Gomez from Browns Summit, a Tour rookie, playing in only his 3rd event was runnerup with a 104.
Bryan Park Winner: D Flight - Shane Kilby
Raleigh's Matt Ellerman made it 2 consecutive Tour wins in the A Flight with an 82. He was 1 shot clear of Fayetteville's Hollis Peery who he also narrowly edged last week at Seven Lakes Country Club. "Both of these guys are going to be factors all year 'on-Tour' ", stated Tour Director Bruce Hallenbeck.
Bryan Park Winner: A Flight - Matt Ellerman
The next event for the Golfweek Tour is Hyland Resort on April 11. There are spots available for that contest.

Rules Review
It has been suggested that there should be a series of Rules scenarios for you to solve. So begins a series of problems titled What's the Score?
Doc Miller has graciously agreed to allow me to share these with you that he has been sending since July 2009.
I will include one each week. You should try to determine the answer based upon your knowledge of the Rules when ever possible and then use your Rule book to confirm.
There will be no trick questions or hidden information.

Questions from week #295
On the par five 12th hole, Bobby’s third shot was hit over the green and came to rest in the rough. At the spot where his ball has come to rest he has a large green-side fan situated between him and the hole. This particular golf course installs these air-moving fans only during the summer months, and thus have adopted the Local Rule for Temporary Immovable Obstructions (TIO) found in Appendix I. Reference the Specimen Local Rule, found in Appendix I, B, Rule 7.
Decide True of False for the following:
A. The only requirement to afford Bobby some relief, is that the fan must directly intervene between his ball and the hole, or be within one club-length of such interference.
B. The only requirement to afford Bobby some relief, is that the fan must interfere directly with his desired line of play or be within one club-length of such interference.
C. Both A and B must apply for Bobby to obtain relief under this Local Rule.
D. If Bobby chooses to take relief. he is permitted to find the nearest point of relief that is no nearer the hole, that satisfies relief from the conditions as described by both A & B above, is not in a hazard nor on a putting green, and then gets one club length from that point within which he must drop the ball.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Answers:
Both C and D are true.
If you view much professional golf on television, you actually see this Local Rule in action somewhat frequently. Unfortunately it is simply not explained very well by the analysts and commentators.
Take an example where Bubba has hit his tee ball wildly off line and where it has come to rest, he now has a row of port-a-potties between him and the hole but a few yards removed from direct interfere with his stance or intended swing. When the official arrives, knowing Bubba wants relief, he’ll determine something along the lines of: if the port-a-potties were not there how would you play the ball? In order for Bubba to now get relief, he needs to indicate that there is a reasonable stroke to be made from where his ball lay, except the port-a-potties will interfere with the intended path of his shot.
So, first the player must determine that, yes, the TIO lies directly between my ball and the hole, or is within one club-length of having such interference. If that is true, then he must also determine if his intended direction of play too has interference, or is within one club-length of having interference. If both are true, and there is nothing else, like a big, close in tree that would clearly make it impractical for the player to make a stroke in the intended direction, then he would be entitled to relief as detailed in D from the question. The player must not rely on an unreasonable stance or diction of play to qualify, and the TIO must also be close enough for the player to actually have practical interference.
Sometimes, in lieu of the relief as in “D” above, the Committee would provide one or more Drop Zones. When multiple DZs are available, the Local Rules would govern how they are to be used in various situations.

Tour Weather Guidelines:
Primarily, we adhere to the same guidelines that the PGA Tour uses: If the course is open, we're going to play.
The only exception to this is that I'll never put any of you in harm's way during an event because of dangerous weather. (i.e. - lightening or severe cold and wetness).
In other words, I won't let the course "bully" us into playing where an unsafe condition might exist.
Because I arrive at every event at least two hours prior to the start time and I generally have to leave my house at least an hour before that to get to the course, there is no sense calling me just before the event, because I won't be at the office. The best avenue to take is to call the course if the weather seems threatening.
If you are on the roster for the event, and you do not get a cancellation notice from the course after calling them, you are expected to show up in time for the scheduled shotgun start.
