The second new issue is titled Golf Life in July and will feature in-depth stories and interviews with the movers, shakers and personalities that drive the business and sport of golf. 2021 Annbriar Recap

2021 Annbriar

Contributed by Sean Naylor and Colin Dooley

Players made their way to Waterloo, Illinois for a Saturday event at Annbriar Golf Course. The rain had its fits and starts, with brief periods of sideways attack for our members to brave. Competition was tight throughout all five flights, with less than two strokes separating the first and second place finishers in three of them.

Dan Kohnle shot an 81 for the top spot in the Championship Flight and a repeat victory. Jared Jordan placed second (83) while Jordan Calandro took third with a score of 87 and both were always in contention throughout the round.

The winner of the A Flight was Daren Green. Green edged Josh Wheeler by one stroke, 79-80. Who says a two-hour drive to get rained on isn’t worth it? David Watson carded an 87, good for third, while Justin Ederer placed fourth (92). Norm Toon rounded out the top-5 with a 98.

Play was close in the B Flight as well with Chris Canfield (aka “I eat harsh conditions for breakfast”) edged out both Jonathan Roeder (aka “I just came for the birdies”) and “Walking Horse” Ross Richardson by one stroke, 82-83, for the victory. Roeder and Richardson tied for second while two others finished in a two-way tie for fourth (86): Albert Delamarter and Joseph Miller

The day was unkind to many, and while a C Flight 95 might not sound like a winner’s score, Jeff Schmidt would say otherwise. John Higdon and Kameron Thomas both tied for second (100) while Jeremy Place edged Jeramy Wallace, 103-104, for fourth.

Newcomer, Jim Witt announced his arrival with a commanding 95 for the D Flight win in Saturday’s round. Michael Pittroff shot a 102, good for second, while Jeff Black rounded out the top-3 with a 106.
