Champ Flight | Chris Pestka
Chris Pestka,
the man to beat in the Champ flight. He showed up tournament after tournament
and played solid golf all year, ending his year with a 1.7 AGT index. Chris
played in 13 tournaments and drained a total of 26 birdies, making Chris the
first player on tour to join the notorious Birdie Club this year. Chris
finished the season with an impressive 8 victories on the local schedule. He
decided to take his talents to Hilton Head for the National Championship, where
he finished tied for 33rd and played the three-day tournament at
+11. Chris’s notable rounds include a 70 at The Falls GC, a 71 at Far Oaks GC and
his two great rounds at Hilton Head, 74 and 72, in rounds one and two of the Natty.
Tremendous season, Chris.
A Flight | Steve
McCauley
Steve McCauley
started the season hot as a pistol. Steve took victories at the first two
tournaments of the year at Forest Park GC and The Falls GC. Although his two wins
came early on, Steve played solid golf all year long, ending the season with an
8.4 AGT index. Steve’s notable low rounds were a 77 at Forest Park GC and a 74
and The Falls GC. Also, added an 81 at the tough Missouri Bluffs GC. He competed
in 11 total tournaments and drained 9 birdies on the year. Steve had a solid
showing at the year end major at Far Oaks, propelling him to the first-place
spot for overall points in the A flight. Great job, Steve, and congratulations
on fighting back to win the points championship.
B Flight | Albert Delamarter
Albert
Delamarter, the crafty veteran, was up to his old tricks this year. This man is
the two-day tourney slayer. The first 2-day major he won this season came at
the infamous TPC Deere Run where Albert shot 82, 81 to destroy the competition
by 6 strokes. He also added 4 birdies to his collection that weekend. Albert’s
next victory came at the St. Louis year end 2-day major at Far Oaks. There, he
came out and fired a first round 76, which included 3 birdies and he finished
off the final round with an 81, to win his second major of the year by 2
strokes. Other notable rounds by Albert were an 83 at Forest Park GC, 82 at
Spencer T. Olin and 81 at Aberdeen GC. Albert ended his year with a 9.2 AGT
index and filled the cup with 15 total birdies on the season, securing his spot
in the Birdie Club. Cheers to another great year, Albert!
C Flight | Scott Nishimura
Scott Nishimura
had one of his best years to date. Playing in 11 tournaments, Scott was able to
lift the hardware five times. His first win was at the season opener at Forest
Park GC, shooting a solid 84. His next victory came at the beautiful Tapawingo
National GC, where he shot an 84. Aberdeen was his next victim, Scottie went
out and played links golf to perfection, carding an 82, which was his low round
of the year. Then he took on the hilly beast known as Pevely Farms and battled
his way through to win that tournament with an 86. Scott’s last victory of the
year came at Stonewolf GC where he shot another solid round of 87. In his 11
tournaments, he made 15 birdies and an eagle to earn his spot in the Birdie
Club for 2022 and to finish his season with a 15.5 AGT index. Scott’s other
notable round includes an 89 at The Falls GC. Congrats on a great year, Scott.
D Flight | Roddy Finley
This was Roddy
Finley’s first year on the Golfweek Amateur Tour. He came out and showed that
he was the man to beat in the D flight. Roddy played in 15 tournaments and drained
5 birdies and also added an eagle. Roddy’s lone victory came in a very exciting
tournament at Aberdeen GC. He shot his low round of the season with an 86,
which tied him for first place. This pushed him to a playoff where Roddy stuck
it to a foot and made the birdie to claim victory on the first playoff hole. Roddy’s
other notable rounds this year include a 92 at Tapawingo National GC, 90 in the
first round at Old Kinderhook, 86 at Missouri Bluffs GC and a 90 in the first
round of the year end major at Far Oaks. Roddy finished the season with a 20.4
AGT index. He played consistent golf all year long, which put him in the driver’s
seat to win the points championship his first year. Way to dominate, Roddy!
