Champ Flight Winner – Chris Pestka
Chris came out on this beautiful Saturday morning with going
low on his mind. On the front nine, Mr.
Pestka put together five pars and a solid birdie on the tough sixth hole, a par
three. Chris made the turn at +5, 40. On the back, Chris was dialing it in and when
he did miss hit, he would scramble to make nothing worse than a bogey on the
back nine. Chris again made five pars
and a birdie coming down the stretch and finished the back at +2 38, for a
total of 78, +7 to take home his sixth win on the season. Congratulations on another win, Chris. The man can flat out swing it!!!
A Flight Winner – Chris Clem
Clem was out trying tournament golf for the first time after
years of playing scrambles and weekend rounds with the buds. He started his first round on tour with an absolute
missile, splitting the fairway. Chris carded five pars and nothing worse than
bogey on the front to make the turn with a 39, +4. That put him in a three-way tie for the
lead. Onto the back, Chris put the pedal
to the floor going birdie, par, birdie, par, par to start the back before an
unfortunate triple that left the door open a little bit for the other
competitors to catch up. Coming down the
stretch, Clem got clutch and parred the 16th and 18th, shooting
a 39. +3 for a total of 78, +7, to secure his first win on tour, winning by 3
strokes. Congratulations Chris and
welcome to the tour.
B Flight Winner – Chris Poetz
Chris Poetz came out fired up and ready to take on the beautiful
Tom Fazio designed golf course. Poetz
brought the thunder this week and played the front shooting a 39, +4. That included four pars and an impressive
birdie on the par 3 sixth, also making nothing worse than bogey. That gave him
a one stroke lead at the turn. Onto the back
nine, Chris started off shaky making doubles on 10 and 12 but quickly got it
back in order making three pars and a birdie coming down the stretch. Chris finished the back with a 43, +7, for a
total of 82, +11 to win his first tournament of the year by 2 strokes. Great round today, Chris, congrats on getting
the dub.
C Flight Winner – John Evans
New member John Evans came out and played very well in his
first Golfweek Am Tour event. Starting
it off with a Birdie on the first hole, that set the tone for the day. John carded three pars and a birdie on the
front to come in at 42, +7 just one stroke off the lead. Rei Nakamura was doing his best to chase down
John making two pars on the front with some solid bogeys to make the turn at
43, +8 two strokes off the lead. On the back,
Rei played very solid pouring in four pars and an awesome birdie on sixteen. That put him in the clubhouse at 83,
+12. Although Rei had a great round
himself it was John Evans who had 8 consecutive pars on the back nine before finishing
with a triple. John’s total score was
81, +10 to hold off Rei Nakamura by two strokes. That makes win number 1 for
Mr. Evans on the Golfweek Am Tour. Congratulations
on your first win.
D Flight Winner – Justin Finley
Had us a good one in the D as per usual. The Finley brothers were at it again, playing
some solid golf going back and forth. Big
brother Roddy started his round with an Eagle on the beautiful downhill par 5
and followed that up with a 38 on the front.
Justin came out and had three pars and four bogeys to put him at 43, +8
at the turn, Justin was five strokes back heading to the second nine. Justin
stayed steady and it was the five pars on the backside, especially the absolute
clutch par on the par 5, eighteenth, that solidified the win for Justin. Shooting a 42, +6 for a total of 85, +14 to
hold off brother Roddy by one stroke, winning his second Golfweek tournament of
the year. Congratulations, Justin on a great win. Also, with your great
performance I want to congratulate you on moving up to the C flight. Way to go
Justin.
