Steve Eberly Receives D Flight Champions Trophy From Tour President Dennis McCormac
It was a teffific week for Team Orlando at the Tour Championship in Hilton Head.
Orlando
now has another National Champion--Steve Eberly in D Flight. He is the
first national champion since Christian Vozza won the Championship
Flight title in 2012. Chad Frank won Championship Flight in 2007.
Full results for flights and teams are posted on www.amateurgolftour.net. Here are a few highlights from the week.
It
was a solid week with a second place team finish (out of 28 teams). Our
team scores have remained consistent for the past three years; The fact
is that there are now 44 tours and over 850 players in Hilton Head so
that makes the competition stronger each year. It is a testament to
Orlando's solid play over time.
I want to again thank
all the members who qualified and were able to attend this year's event.
The weather was fantastic, the courses in terrific shape and everyone
seemed to enjoy the experience. We are pleased and already looking
forward to 2016.
The week got off to a good start on
Wednesday night at the annual Directors meeting Orlando was recognized
as one of the ten largest tours in the country with over 150 members.
It marks the 14th time Orlando has been over 150 members.
On
Thursday several members participate in the Skins Game at Port Royal.
The Welcome Reception followed as players were checking in for all
flights.
Chad Frank Wins "Go Low Orlando" in Championship Flight
As for the tournament, Steve Eberly
was Orlando's star player with his victory in D Flight. He came from
six strokes off the pace to take the title by a single stroke. Great
job! Chad Frank finished th in Championship Flight. Depriest Bowers finished with a total of 244 in A Flight. Andy Baker had the low score for Orlando in B Flight (265). And Dan Podawiltz led Orlando's C Flight (267). Each of these players receives a $500 Visa gift card as our "Go Low Orlando" winners. Thanks to Steve Start for sponsoring this added incentive for our Tour Championship players. He has already committed to do the same in 2016.
