JOHN BESSETTE TAKES OVER CHAMPIONSHIP FLIGHT POINTS LEAD; RAY RODRIGUEZ WINS B & SENIOR B

92 Golfweek Amateur Tour members enjoyed two days of great competition on Marriott’s Grande Pines Golf Club in Orlando. The challenging layout provided a great test for our last major of the season. It was a test of endurance as temperatures soared into the mid-90-s both days.
Championship Flight: Reigning Player of the Year Chad Frank opened with a 70 to lead Doug Powell by one stroke in the Championship Flight. However, Sunday was a different day as steady John Bessette posted a 72 to go with 74 on Saturday and edge past Chad (70-77) & Danny Nash (74-73) for first place.
A Flight: North Central Florida member Alex Hargaden captured the A flight with 75-71-146, leading from start to finish. Mark Farrow was second after 79-75-154. Gary Martinet was third with 156. Hargaden is headed for Championship Flight after his great outing.
Grande Pines Winners; Ray Rodriguez (R) B & SrB Flights, Rick Whitman (C) Flight
B Flight: B flight saw tour veteran Ray Rodriguez win after rounds of 80-87-167. He edged Dan Seidenfaden (82-87-169) by two shots. Eric Kellough took third with 172.
C Flight: C flight went to Rick Whitman. He shot 89-86-175 for a five shot win over three players—Juan Restrepo (93-87), Michael Moore (87-93) and Joe Porter (86-94), all finishing on 180.
D Flight: Rich Williams scored a victory in D flight with scores of 96-96-192. Steve Start and Brandon Prokop shared second with 195 totals.
Grande Pines Senior Winners: Gary Martinet (L) A Flight, Jim Hammons Championship Flight
Senior Championship Flight: Jim Hammons' 76-73-149 topped Bill Shufelt (77-75-152)..
Senior A Flight: Gary Nartinet's 78-78-156 took top honors in Senior A. He was five better than Mike Dowless (83-78-161).
Senior B Flight:, Ray Rodriguez (80-87-167) topped Dave Dymond (80-89-169) by two. Chet Rakowski was third with 173.
