82 Golfweek Amateur Tour members enjoyed a great weekend in Port St. Lucie at the PGA Golf Club for the Bob Mirus Memorial--the first major of the season. Players found the Dye and Wanamaker courses to be all they could handle; but to a man everyone enjoyed the courses and said they would come back if we ever made a return trip.
Championship Flight: Chad Frank captured his third win, but he needed a second day comeback to pull it off. He started the day 5 shots behind first rond leader Matt Tickle. Matt opened with 73 on Saturday and took a 3 stroke lead over Jim Hammons and Doug Powell, both shot 76's. Sunday proved to be a different day. Frank posted a 74 for 152 total and watched is stand up as Jim Hammons posted 77-153 to take second John Bessette posted 76-155 to grab thrid.. Mike Menyhart's 74 won the second day game.
A Flight: Brian King was the man to bead all weekend. He opened with 77 and took a four stroke lead over Donald Dunivant (81). It proved too much to overcome even though Donald put up a nice 75 on Sunday to finish at 156. Brian shot a steady 76-153 and took a three stroke win. Dennis Cargo shot a nice 78 on Sunday to finish thrid. An opening 86 put him too far back to contend. Jim Kenney (168) was fourth. Charles Devenney shot 79 to win the second day money prize. As a result of Brian's fine play this season, he will advance to the Championship flight at the next tournament. Congratulations on your performance.
B Flight: Eric Kellough shot steady rounds of 79-83-162 take top honors. David Gray of the Jacksonville tour shot 81-85-166 for second. Dan Seidenfaden was next with 90-81-171. Dan's 81 took the second day money prize.
C Flight: Mark Klenck was victorious 85-82-167. He finished ten strokes in front of Juan Restrepo (87-90-177). Jay Freeman (95-86-181) finished 3rd. Freeman also won the second day money prize with his 86. Mark will join Brian King in earning a promotion to the next flight. Mark will move to B flight next time out.
D Flight: Brandon Prokop stormed back with an 86 on Sunday after opening with 102. The turnaround propelled him to victory (188) over Po Lehman (Tampa) Po fired stead rounds of 97-96-193 to take second place.

Senior Championship flight:. Jim Hammons shot 76-77-153 to take a three shot win overAWayne Zeigler (81-75-156)
Senior A Flight: Donald Dunivant won going away after a Sunday 75 left him at 156. Jim Kenney took second after rounds of 86-82-168.
Senior B Flight:, Ray Rodrizuez in the closest flight of the tournament, shot 87-84-171 and took a 2-shot win over Bill Robertson who posted 86-87-173.
