CHAD FRANK, CHASE FORSYTH SCORE VICTORIES ON OPENING DAY

A beautiful spring day greeted the players of the Golfweek Amateur Tour at Red Tail Golf Club in Sorrento, FL.  It was the tour's first visit to the course and to a man, all players enjoyed the new venue.  And the day was full of action.

Championship Flight:   Chad Frank led the field with a 1-under 71.  He needed every made putt as tour veteran Dennis Brady  was right on his heels with 72.   John Bessette finished third with a 74.

A Flight: Roc Irey (Tampa) posted a 73 to top the A flight..Robin Gomez and Mike Lombardo each posted 80 to tie for second.    Six players finished with 81 in fourth place.  After matching cards, Mark Farrow and John Blum (NCF) took the 4th and 5th place prizes, respectively.

B Flight:  The B-flight is always competitive.  And it started with a playoff this year.  Veteran Chet Rakowski and tour rookie Neville Miller tied on 87.  Chet prevailed on the first extra hole.  Three more players (Russell Outram, Eric Kellough & Matt Mewes) finished one stroke back with 88's. 

C Flight:  Chase Forsyth started his season with a victory.  He shot 85 to finish four strokes in front of Britt Thompson (89).  Joe Porter was another stroke back with 90.

D Flight:  Brandon Prokop  captured first place after shooting 96. It was good for a one shot win over Rich Williams. .

Senior Flights:  Dennis Brady's 72 took top honors in Senior Championship.  Steven Stuetzle (NCF) shot 74 for second.  Roc Irey (73) took first in Senior A.   Mike Lombardo was second.  Chet Parker claimed the top spot in Senior B with a score of 80.  Chet Rakowski was second.
