ORLANDO TAKES 5TH IN TEAM CUP;

FRANK, VOZZA POST TOP 15 FINISHES

TEAM ORLANDO 2013

Forty seven members of the Golfweek Amateur Tour/Orlando travelled to Hilton Head Island, SC for the 19th Golfweek Amateur Tour Championshiips.  Play was spread over nine courses in the Hilton Head Island area.  It was the third time the event has been contested at 54 holes.  Over 820 players from 44 local tours and 40 cities filled the record field.  Orlando took fifth place out of 30 teams in the Team Cup competition.

Tom, with Robbie & Stephanie, Receives 2013 Roger Mitterling Award For SU2C

On Wednesday before the tournament, Orlando received the Roger Mitterling Award.  It is presented to the tour that raises the most money for Stand Up 2 Cancer.  Orlando raised over $6500 in 2013.  It follows 2012 when Orlando Tour Director Tom Mirus received the Director of the Year Award.  They are the two most coveted awards that a tour can receive.  Congratulations to Tim Newman of the Washington DC Metro tour for being named the 2013 Director of the Year.

Chad Frank--T5 Championship Flight

Chad Frank was the top performer for Orlando in Championship flight as he carded rounds of 71-73-74-218 for a fifth place tie.  Last year's National Champion, Christian Vozza shot rounds of 71-71-77-220 to finish in a tie for 11th place this year.

Dennis Cargo--A Flilght

In A flight Robbie Robinson had the best score for Orlando.  He shot rounds of 86-81-79-246.  Dennis Cargo was next with rounds of 86-81-80-247.

Andy Baker--B Flight

Andy Baker posted rounds of 85-81-86 for a T18 finish in B flight.  Dan Gardner was next for Orlando with 87-86-83-256.

Michael Moore--C Flight

Rick Whitman led the way in C flight with rounds of 90-88-93-271.  Dan Podawiltz followed with 90-96-87-273. 

In the D flilght, Chirs Twohig was low for Orlando with 97-92-95-284.  Joe Sanchez was next with 104-93-91-288.
