Reunion Resort
Reunion resort's Arnold Palmer course (Legacy) replaced Victoria Hills at the last mnute. It proved to be a big hit with the Edwin Watts Golf Amateur Tour members. The course was in magnificent condition when we played on June 5.
Chad Frank shot a steady 36-36-72 to lead the way in Championship flight. Bill Foster was next5 with 74. Jason Cranford was third with 75 and Eric Baker finished on 76. Foster's 74 was good enough to top Patrick Dwyer by 3 shots for the Senior Championship prize.
In the A flight it was hot shooting Tom Dillon who topped the field with a fine round of 73--including six birdies. It was three shots back to the second place finisher, Joel Adams. Next in line were Robbie Robinson (77), Dennis Cargo (78) and Ed Paterniti (79).
First year member Dan Gardner had the hot hand in B flight as he posted 78 to take top honors. Subernia Johnson, coming off a big win at the 2-day event at Grande Pines, stayed in good form as she came in with 80 for second place. Third was Matt D'Auria (83) and Ernie Hallare (84). they are also first year members. Job well done!
C flight continues to provide exciting competition. Josh Dietrick shot 86 to dege past Chase Petersen's 88 by 2. They were the only scores under 90 in this flight. Chas McIntyre and Bryan Bowman came next at 02 and 93, respectively.
Youth prevailed in the D flight as 13-year old Justin Cranford fired a 91 to beat Brodric Johnson by two shots. Alberto Esperon was the thrid D flight player to break 100 as he turned in 99.
Senior A flight produced the only playoff. Points leader Robbie Robinson posted 77 and waited to see if it would hold up. David Wellard was in the last group of the flight and when he posted his 77, it was back to the course for some free golf! It only took one hole for David to prevail when Robbie missed a putt to extend the playoff. Robbie did hold on to the top spot for Player of the Year at this point. Ed Paterniti shot 79 to take thrid place and stay in second in the POY race.
Only one stroke separated Ben Hamby and Rick Whitman in Senior B flight as Ben's 85 was good for the victory.
