Rock Harbor Results
The morning started off hazy but warmed up in terms of both the weather and the competition! The Rock course at Rock Harbor proved challenging to all participants in this week’s event. Although the tees were further back than anticipated, the DC Metro players rose to the challenge in an admirable manner. In fact, John Nesbitt (A Flight) shot the best score of the day with an incredible 78! Second place went to our newest member, Tae Lee who carded an 82. Following right behind him was Jonathan James with an 83. The Championship Flight also played from the tips and guest player, Kevin Long’s score of 80 earned him first place followed by TZ Jia with an 89.
Top players in the B Flight have been battling it out each tournament and this week was no exception. First place at Rock Harbor went to Tanaka Dube after he scored 83. Only one stroke separated second and third place as Nick Gerstner (85) beat Matt Garland (86).
The C Flight had a repeat winner this week as Dorinda Pastorek earned the trophy again when she shot an 84. Guest player Larry Byrd took second place with an 88. Both Thomas Fox and Chris Crawford carded an 89 indicating just how tight the competition was on the course.
Will Miller earned his first victory in the D Flight this weekend after shooting a 92. The next closest score was a 99 and multiple people shared this accomplishment--Jim Forbes, Nate Cohen and Brian Granville. The stage is set for future tournaments for all of the flights to continue competing for the top spot—we look forward to seeing you all at Musket Ridge on May 19th!
The next stop on the DC Metro Golfweek Amateur Tour is at Musket Ridge Golf Club. Musket Ridge Golf Club (situated in Myersville, Maryland) has been ranked as a top 10 Public Course in Maryland. The DC Metro Tour will be choosing it's Metro Cup team at the conclusion of this event, so don't miss out on earning valuable points in order to compete against Tidewater in June.
We hope to see a large turnout for this event. We are approaching the total number of members we had last year and would love to surpass it--please encourage your friends to sign up for the Tour.
The season is already one-fourth of the way complete with one major already in the books. Make sure you start playing to accumulate points for the National Championship race. The registration deadline is midnight Saturday (5/11).
