Sky Creek Ranch GC, Keller, LA
The DFW Tour is coming into the home stretch of the season with
the 9th event completed at Sky Creek Ranch. Mother Nature tried her best to slow everyone
down with temperatures around 105 degrees during play. With the very hot temperatures, we still had
a good turnout and some of the scores were as hot as the air.
Tour veteran Kevin McIntosh had a two shot lead going to 18 over
long time veteran Cecil Bird; however McIntosh scored a bogie while Bird carded
a birdie. They finished tied after
18. McIntosh put the dagger into Bird on
the first playoff hole carding a birdie to seal the victory. This is McIntosh’s 7th victory
this year in both the Championship and A Flights.
Tour Rookie Dave Perrin recorded his first victory of the season
in the A Flight. He carded 2 birdies on
his way a solid 78. Randy Baker birdied
2 of the last 4 holes, but it was not enough to catch Dave as he finished 3
stroked behind with an 81. Jason Kalb
and William Works tied for 3rd with solid 82’s.
New member Cheyenne Bauman won the B Flight in a no doubt, 11
stroke victory firing a solid 84. He
started the day ahead of the field with am impressive birdie on number 1. Chris Reynolds finished 2nd with a
95 and Tony McCutchen shot a 96 for 3rd.
Long time veteran Chuck Hubbard scored his first victory of the year,
firing a 90 for the day in the C Flight.
He played well from tee to green with 79% fairways hit and 44% GIR’s. He bested Grif Griffith and Rod Martinez,
both carding a 91.
Tour Rookie Darrel Dawson coasted to his 3rd victory
of the season out of 4 attempts firing an 87, a person best for the
season. He beat David Davis by 4 strokes. David shot recorded a 91 for second
place. New member Ryan Chambless placed third
in his first tournament with a 94.
