In a tale of 2 different weather days, the Arkansas Tour Opener at Greystone Country Club and Cypress Golf Club in Cabot, Arkansas was a success. Cloudy and cold on day 1 with a little rain in the morning. The sun came out and the temperature heated up on Day 2. The scores heated up as well. Some new faces and some familiar faces met on the golf courses to engage in some great competition during this time of uncertainly. New rules for social distancing and frequent handwashing made for a different experience. But we were all glad we could still get out and golf.
The Champ flight ended out with only one participant. Newcomer, Dustin Cole, shot 76-77, but needs some competition.
The A flight saw Bruce Upton (81-79) edge Tour Director, Jerry Homishak by two strokes.
In the B Flight, Keith Greenfield (82-82) won the first event of the year over Raymond Peevy(91-81). After sitting out a year, Raymond made a strong showing to take second. Rounding out the paid positions in the B Flight was Jay Williams (91-82) and Mike Myers (89-85)
Rob Luter (91-88) took a 3-stroke lead into Day 2 and needed every stroke to stave off challengers, Vic Werner (98-84) and Phil Smith (99-84). Vic and Phil gave Rob a run, but in the end he was able to take home the first C Flight win of the year.
In the D Flight, Paul Golden (94-85) took a 5-stroke victory over Jeff Corder (98-86). Ira Watkins (96-89) and Scott Branscum (98-93) rounded out the paid places in the D Flight.
